Over the past week, we as Americans have been united in our grief as Newtown has laid to rest so many beautiful, innocent children, along with the heroic educators who worked every day to help them achieve their dreams.

As a mother of two young daughters, my heart aches for you and your families. Like so many Americans, I wish there were something — anything — I could do or say to ease your anguish.

President Barack Obama Officially Nominates John Kerry For Secretary Of State

RadioNOW 100.9

After weeks of media speculation President Barack  Obama officially announced the nomination of Massachusetts Senator and  former presidential candidate John Kerry for Secretary of  State. Sen. Kerry is undoubtedly one of the most experienced foreign policy experts  in the nation, and is the current chair of the Senate Foreign Relations  Committee. Obama praised the Vietnam War  veteran as he and his wife, Heinz heiress Teresa, looked on approvingly.

“Over these many years, John’s earned the respect and confidence of leaders  around the world. He is not going to need a lot of on-the-job-training,” said  Obama. “I think it is fair to say that few individuals know as many presidents  and prime ministers or grasp our foreign policies as firmly as John Kerry, and  this makes him a perfect choice to guide American diplomacy in the years  ahead.”

2012 Person of the Year: Barack Obama, the President

Person of the Year

Twenty-seven years after driving from New York City to Chicago in a $2,000 Honda Civic for a job that probably wouldn’t amount to much, Barack Obama, in better shape but with grayer hair, stood in the presidential suite on the top floor of the Fairmont Millennium Park hotel as flat screens announced his re-election as President of the United States. The networks called Ohio earlier than predicted, so his aides had to hightail it down the hall to join his family and friends. They encountered a room of high fives and fist pumps, hugs and relief.

The final days of any campaign can alter the psyches of even the most experienced political pros. At some point, there is nothing to do but wait. Members of Obama’s team responded in the only rational way available to them — by acting irrationally. They turned neckties into magic charms and facial hair into a talisman and…

T.I. Says CT School Shooting Is Why He Kept Guns On Him [Video]

Z 107.9

While upset by the massacre, Tip said the Sandy Hook Elementary School event proved why there is no such thing as a safe and secure place.

“It’s a tragedy and it’s a travesty, it was a catastrophic event. My heart goes out to the families. As a parent, there’s no way that you can hear or see or observe something like that go on and not be touched in your heart. Just to know somewhere so sacred, somewhere that is supposed to be completely off limits to any kind of wrongdoing, something like that can happen to kindergarteners — I don’t want to run the risk of sounding inappropriate but that is exactly the reason why I had mines. At any time, if anybody calls me, anytime, when I had mines, I’m pulling up with ’em and the whole perimeter will be secure and ain’t nobody moving but us…

President Barack Obama named TIME Magazine’s ‘Person of the Year’

TIME-Magazine-Obama

President Barack Obama has had a very exciting year and it just got better.

TIME magazine has named the president, their ‘Person of the Year’ for 2012.

This is the second time Obama has been named ‘Person of the Year’ by the magazine, the first time he was given the title was back in 2008.

The Commander-In-Chief was given the title for various reasons, but TIME declares there was one particular aspect of the president’s characteristics that made him a shoe-in.

TIME writes:

“There are many reasons for this, but the biggest by far are the nation’s changing demographics and Obama’s unique ability to capitalize on them.”

“He is the first president to embrace gay marriage and to offer work permits to many young undocumented immigrants,” it continued.

“For finding and forging a new majority, for turning weakness into opportunity and for seeking, amid great diversity, to create a…
